A Race
Night is one of the most exciting and effective ways of fundraising - not
only will it give those attending an event to remember, it will produce
far more funds than most other traditional events you could run.
You rent from us sealed 16 mm films (or VHS videos) each showing a single
horse race. They are filmed in full colour with up to 5 cameras covering
the action, and with commentary by Derek Thompson, one of Britain's top
Racing Commentators.
The races each have 8 (or 10) horses identified by number only. The films
are shown at a special race evening or afternoon arranged by your Organisation.
Your guests bet on which horse number they think will win. You run the Tote
(the betting desk), take a percentage out of the betting for profit, and
show the films.

Each film is sealed so that nobody
knows which horse will win. A film is selected at random by one of the audience
after the betting is complete. The seal is then broken and the film projected
onto the screen. That's when the excitement really begins as members cheer
on their own horse. It's as simple as that. |
The activity
is classed as a lottery and is governed by the Lotteries and Amusements
Act of 1976 (Amusements with Prizes). However, there are a few restrictions
on holding one of these very popular evenings in your local club/church
hall. The main one is that the race night cannot be the only inducement
to attend - offering food as well is a good idea.
