Fundraising Events

To make life easy for hard-worked fundraising committees, there are some "ready-made" events, which are carefully thought out with instructions for those involved and are proven money raisers. Here are some ideas.

1) Race Nights
These are often the most successful fundraising events where any number of people can have a fun night "betting" on actual horse races.

The activity is classed as a lottery and is governed by the Lotteries and Amusements Act of 1976 (Amusements with Prizes). However, there are few restrictions on holding one of these very popular evenings in your local club/church hall. The main one is that the race night cannot be the only inducement to attend - offering food as well is a good idea.

Please contact Beneficial Arts if you have any questions about legality.

The races, usually of horses, are projected onto a screen using films or videos. Bets are placed and horses can be "auctioned off" to bidders before the race, the winning "owners" receiving the proceeds of the auction, after a proportion has been deducted for the organisation.

Race nights can easily raise over £1000 - how?
